New Zealand Chemistry Olympiad Trust
Each year a group of around 30-35 secondary school students is selected to form a Training Group. The selection is based upon performance in a selection test held at the end of October, or the beginning of November. The selection test assumes knowledge of only Year 12 (NCEA Level 2) Chemistry. The 2012 Training Group selection will be held on 3 November 2011. To be eligible, students must be under 20 and not intending to attend University in 2012. Students must have been attending a New Zealand school for at least two years prior to July 2012. |

To enter, the teacher and students must complete the following by Tuesday 25 October, 2011:
The teacher in charge must return the "Application to Sit Examination" form (Word doc 47 KB) to Dr Owen Curnow with the names of any students who meet the above criteria. The test papers will be sent to this teacher who will have responsibility for administering the test.
Each student must also complete the "Student Registration" form (Word doc 45 KB) and forward before 25 October. Students must pay an entry fee of $25 by direct credit into:
National Bank account number 06-0665-0133836-00 (include your name in the details).

During term one, the training group undergo a training program which includes reading material, problem assignments, and a couple of tests. In April a training camp is held. At the end of the camp, the team of four, and at least one non-travelling reserve, is selected.
The International Olympiad is held in July each year.
The New Zealand Chemistry Olympiad Trust is a member of the Science Olympianz Association.
